Why women choose labiaplasty: A study conducted by Sarah C. Sorace, MD, Li, Y. Alexander, B.S., M.S., Francisco L. Canales, MD, and Heather J. Furnas, MD published in the Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. This study confirms what Dr. Hayes and her all women team at Visionary Centre for Women have known all along: the primary reasons why women choose labiaplasty is not necessarily appearance, it’s pain and tugging during intercourse and feeling self-conscious. These main reasons dramatically and negatively impact sexual intimacy and the fullness of life.
Most general plastic surgeons do not have expertise in cosmetic gynecology
In this video, Rod J. Rohrich, MD, Editor-in-Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery explains that many plastic surgeons still don’t offer the labiaplasty procedure, even though it’s gaining popularity, and that some doctors even believe that it’s medically unnecessary. The authors of the study wrote, “Understanding this patient perspective is crucial in assessing surgical outcomes. Furthermore, the better all physicians understand labia symptomatology, the better supported patients will be in seeking surgical relief.”
A study is a poor replacement for experience and expert training.
Are you considering labiaplasty?
After this study, even more plastic surgeons will begin offering labiaplasty. We highly recommend that women considering labia surgery to do their research to find an experienced and highly trained surgeon. If labiaplasty is performed by someone who is inexperienced, it is less likely they can treat the labia with artful precision. Also, some physicians offer labiaplasty who do not have expertise in the vulva area at all, their focus is tummy tucks and breast augmentation surgery. Dr. Jennifer Hayes, a Board Certified pelvic surgeon and cosmetic gynecologist has over a decade of dedicated aesthetic labiaplasty experience. She formally trained with world renowned gynecologist, Dr. David Matlock (pioneer of Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR) and Laser Reduction Labiaplasty), and acclaimed urogynecologist and cosmetic gynecologist, Dr. Red Alinsod, (pioneer of Alinsod majoraplasty, Barbie labiaplasty, and THERMIva®), and world famous cosmetic gynecologist, Dr. Marco Pelosi, to refine her techniques.
During our search for key words that women use during a search for a labiaplasty surgeon, we found terms like “labia surgeon near Tampa” or “labiaplasty surgeon near (town goes here)”. Closest in proximity should not be a criteria for choosing a surgeon for one of the most intimate surgical procedures: it’s experience and advanced training. This is why women from the Tampa Bay area, Sarasota, and all over the world rely on Dr. Jennifer Hayes for their intimate aesthetic surgery.
I wanted to have a labiaplasty procedure for two reasons. One, my labia grew long and were pinching and hurting during intercourse. Second, it was unsightly to me and they would hang down and look odd in my bathing suit.
Not only does it look great, but it feels great and doesn’t interfere when having intercourse…
