The 2016 Physician of the Year selected by the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society was Dr. Jennifer Hayes. She has been in practice in this county for the past 25 years.
Dr. Hayes is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and for the past eight years has served as Director of the Visionary Centre for Women in Clearwater, Florida. She earned a medical degree at Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in North Miami Beach, Florida and completed her internship and residency at the Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.
Dr. Hayes grew up in a family that valued the healing arts. Her father, B. Warren Smith was a surgeon in Pinellas County and her mother was a nurse. At the age of seven she accompanied her father on his rounds, and by age 12 she began joining him in the operating room to observe surgery.
Dr. Hayes has served on the PCOMS Board of Governors for the past eight years. Other professional involvements include adjunct professor at LECOM Bradenton and Barry University in Miami, Member of the Board of Directors at the Carillion Surgery Center in St. Petersburg, and several medical committees at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.
She is further a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an active member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. PCOMS was pleased to honor Dr. Jennifer Hayes as the 2016 Physician of the Year.
